For the best post graduate student in the Department of Architecture For the course in Masters in Housing. Instituted by : Dr. Ashalatha Thampuran.
Smt. Sarasija Thampuran (1917-2002) hailed from the Padinjare Kovilakom branch of erstwhile Cochin Royal family. She passed her matriculation from the Palace School at Tripunithura. From her childhood she had developed an intimate affinity with the Puranas, Epics and Sanskrit.
Smt. Thampuran's outstanding personality had its spell not only upon her six children but also influenced her peers. Her pragmatic approach to life and far sightedness were so well conceived that it's rare to find such a strong willed person from the orthodox family background. She was a strict to her children regarding their education. This had its desired effect as all her sons and daughters have reached high positions in society. Her helping hands extended beyond her social circles and many had the good fortune to turn to her for help which was never denied. Her liberal outlook and perceptions were, no doubt, beyond her age.
