The late Prof. K.C. Chacko was the first Post-graduate Professor of Hydraulics in 1958 when M.Sc. (Engg.) course was started in College of Engineering, Trivandrum. He became Principal of the college in 1961 when the college was being shifted from the city to the new campus. He was also the Principal when the Silver Jubilee of the college was celebrated in February 1965 and Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri visited the college. He became Director of Technical Education in 1967 and after retirement, was appointed as Pro-vice chancellor of Calicut University. He was deeply involved in social and religious activities and was a Chevalier. His last years were spent at Edappally, Cochin.
