The late Dr. S. Vasudev joined the College of Engineering, Trivandrum, as Lecturer in Civil Engineering, Trivandrum, in 1954 and took his M.Sc (Engg.) degree in Hydraulics along with the first batch of P.G students in this College in 1960. He took his Ph.D from Cornell University, U.S.A and became Professor of Civil Engineering later. He was Principal of the College of Engineering, Trivandrum during 1970-74 and Director of Technical Education during 1974-82. A large number of original programmes were initiated and new institutions started during his tenure as DTE. The DTE office was shifted from the College of Fine Arts campus at Palayam to the old Padmavilasam Palace inside Fort during his tenure. After retirement he was appointed as Chairman, Science, Technology & Environment and Secretary to Government. He was deeply involved in Professional activities till the last day of his life.
