The late Prof. K. Venkitaraman was the sole faculty member handling the subject of Telecommunication in the old college campus. He was an Associate of I.I.Sc Bangalore. When a separate department was started in 1966 in Telecommunication in the new College campus, Prof. Venkitaraman became its first Head of the Department. He nurtured and built up the Department in its infancy. He was later appointed as a consultant to United Electrical Industries, Kollam for their R & D projects. His latter years were spent at Veerabhadra gardens, Pattom, Trivandrum.
